The Beijing Olympics are months away, but Gucci is already in training. In December the brand unveiled the 8-8-2008 Limited Edition, an accessories collection inspired by the Games, which kick off on that date. The sporty wares include a digital watch with a logoed red rubber band, suede patchwork sneakers and a bicycle tricked out with red leather details. In China the color red signifies prosperity and good fortune—clearly Gucci is hoping to score some merchandising medals.
