As you shrug off winter’s woolly layers, a stack of bangles provides glamorous cover for newly bare arms. Jeweled, they add major polish to a low-key sheath or jeans. Bulgari’s white gold cuff, for instance, pairs a 93-carat tourmaline with slivers of diamonds and emeralds, while Gioia’s inky moonstone and sapphire number evokes van Gogh’s The Starry Night. Simpler, but with no less impact, are offerings of the slim and trim ilk, such as the Frank Gehry–designed 18-karat gold bracelet for Tiffany & Co. and Lauren Wolf’s wavy green gold bangle. In creating the latter, Wolf found inspiration in a sea urchin. “I find it fascinating how those textures translate into a metal form,” she says. “There are amazing designs within all sorts of ocean life.”
