I admit, I have a rather romanticized take on the amethyst. Up until the 18th century, it was considered a precious gemstone and used in royal family heirlooms—I always envision a European princess plucking the feminine, lilac-colored stone from a heap of others for her latest bauble. Nowadays, due to its widespread availability, the stone is classified as semi-precious, but it hasn’t lost its appeal for women who love its beguiling hue, royal or not.
