AKA: RONI HORN
Roni Horn works in a variety of mediums, including drawing, photography and sculpture, to examine the ambiguous nature of identity, particularly gender identity. Here, she explores her subject through portraiture and vintage snapshots. Born in New York city in 1955, Horn studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and received her M.F.A. from Yale university. A 1975 trip to Iceland inspired an ongoing series of art books called “To Place,” about her relationship with the isolation and unique landscape of that country. In 2009 the Tate Modern in london will host a retrospective of her work, which will then travel to the Whitney Museum of American Art in new york. She lives and works in New York.
