Jeffrey Eugenides’s new novel, The Marriage Plot, will be published on October 11, nearly a decade after his Pulitzer Prize–winning Middlesex. Set in the early Eighties, the story acutely captures what it’s like to be a conflicted twentysomething. Eugenides, also the author of The Virgin Suicides, has managed to reinvigorate the classic coming-of-age genre.
