Five years ago, Donna Karan took Jill Pettijohn to a yoga retreat. In between oms, the private chef spread the gospel of her five-day nutritional cleanses to curious yogis, and a business was born. Today Pettijohn’s brand is synonymous with cleansing, the practice of rejuvenating the body’s systems while drinking little and eating nothing at all. Her influence among the chic and famous has led to consulting gigs at hotels like the Mandarin Oriental and Parrot Cay, for which she has created more substantive raw-food menu items.
