Beauty obsession of the week: Sebastian's new volumizers

blog_volumeseb_01.jpgVolumizing hair products are about as ubiquitous and all-promising as anti-aging moisturizers: We buy them on reflex, and generally hope for, but don’t necessarily expect, the best. Sebastian’s Volupt line, however, actually delivers. Typical volumizing products work by creating friction in the hair shaft and separating strands so they end up feeling (and looking) roughed up. But the shampoo, conditioner and spray-gel in the Volupt line work by using a silica-based polymer to force hairs apart as well as a softening particle called microthene to keep them looking and feeling smooth. The end result—on my hair at least—is a serious bump in volume that makes even my pathetic home blow dries look decent. $13.95-$19.95, sebastianprofessional.com
