For celebrities Kate Winslet, Mariah Carey, and Marion Cotillard, Deborah Lippmann (below) has become the go-to (or come-here) manicurist for red-carpet events and fashion photo shoots. Her eponymous nail-color and nail-care lines have included collaborations with some of her most famous clients: “We did Sarah Smile with Sarah Jessica Parker, Believe with Cher, and Lara’s Theme with Lara Stone,” says Lippmann. Edge of Glory, a polish-and-glitter combo concocted with Lady Gaga for Gaga’s Workshop at Barneys New York, is her most recent tag-team effort. Like Ms. G, it’s an attention-getter: “A holographic glitter transforms the color, depending on how it’s angled,” says Lippmann of the pearlescent 3-D effect. “It’s beautiful and edgy at the same time.” Gaga was by all accounts the perfect co-conspirator. “When I did her nails for the ‘Born This Way’ video, she gave the looks names, like Host and Parasite. She envisioned nails that I never even thought about before” (barneys.com; $45).
