I’m not a big fan of lip gloss—it’s goopy and sticky.
So I was happy to hear that Yves Saint Laurent’s creative director
for makeup, Lloyd Simmonds (left), had
a few gloss horror stories
of
his own, including one backstage with makeup artist Pat McGrath.
“Pat would count down the seconds before each model walked out on
the runway, and we’d apply the gloss at the last moment,” he
recalled. “By
the time they came back,
it was about to drip down
their chins.” In response, Simmonds created YSL’s Rouge Pur
Couture Glossy Stain. This lipstick-stain-gloss hybrid comes in 20
shades, all completely drip-free.
