Fitness guru Simone De La Rue shares her secrets to success in her first book.

For the past two years, Simone De La Rue has lured celebrities like Anne Hathaway and Karolina Kurkova to her Manhattan studio with her mood-boosting, calorie-torching, high-speed dance workouts—and, well, the promise of a Body by Simone. She recently opened a second studio, in West Hollywood, and next month she’s targeting DIY-fitness types with her first book, Body by Simone: The 8-Week Total Body Makeover Plan (Harper Wave). In it, De La Rue offers dance moves and Pilates-based toning exercises, as well as an alcohol-, starch-, dairy-, caffeine-, and sugar-free detox regimen developed with the Manhattan cleanse evangelist Frank Lipman, M.D., whose own following includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Donna Karan. Lipman, a die-hard yogi, admits he has yet to take one of De La Rue’s famously grueling classes. “Everyone raves about them,” he says. “But the truth is, I’m scared!”
