“I’m sure the teacher thought I was really sucking up.”

If there was any question about Hollywood’s obsession with youth, it was answered this season with a slew of young-at-heart fetes on the West Coast. When organic baby food brand Tastybaby held an afternoon soirée at the Stella McCartney shop in Beverly Hills, Angie Harmon brought her daughters, Finley and Avery Sehorn, ages four and two, while Jamie Tisch arrived with seven-year-old Holden, and Jen Meyer toted 10-month-old Ruby Maguire.

A few school nights later, Scout and Tallulah Willis—girls not old enough to vote but smart enough to raid their mother’s closet—got a peek at the Marc by Marc Jacobs spring collection when the designer held a runway show at former Catholic cathedral St. Vibiana’s in downtown Los Angeles.

The crowd at Chanel’s party that same night was well out of high school but still fresh. Amanda Peet, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Kerry Washington flocked to the renovated Rodeo Drive boutique for a bash cohosted by P.S. Arts. Kate Beckinsale looked apropos in a beaded frock, but she may have been a tad overdressed for her daughter Lily’s parent-teacher conference right before the party. “I’m sure the teacher thought I was really sucking up,” she said.

Meanwhile, in San Francisco, guests at the opening of the new Barneys New York flagship were like kids in a candy shop, with Vanessa Traina and Jennifer Siebel (Mayor Gavin Newsom’s new gal) among those seen ogling the wares.

Even guests at the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s opening-night gala boogied like teenagers. As Jack Nicholson looked on, Sherry Lansing danced the night away to Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On.”
