Heather Thomas, the actress and wife of big-shot Hollywood attorney Skip Brittenham, says she wrote Trophies, a novel William Morrow will publish in May, to “debunk the myth of the trophy wife.” As her protagonist, Marion, second wife of a billionaire mogul, puts it, “I’d call any demographic group which directs billions of dollars in charitable funds kinda powerful.” (The story isn’t all do-gooding; there’s plenty of backbiting and maneuvering.) Thomas is quick to reject the “trophy” label in the first place: “I was the one with more money when I married my husband,” she says.
