In the HBO film Game Change, premiering March 10, Julianne Moore takes on the task of portraying Sarah Palin circa 2008—without venturing into Tina Fey territory. “It was hard!” says Moore, who had to wear a wig and spend two and a half hours in makeup each morning. “It was my job to represent her as a human being. We’re not trying to put a slant on what happened.” The facts alone are harrowing enough: The film exposes the misjudgments leading to the Republican Party’s infatuation with Mama Grizzly. “But really, it’s our fault that as a population, we’re often driven by candidates’ glamour and star quality rather than their substance,” Moore says. Hear, hear.
