Carmen Ejogo in Sparkle
“As a kid, in London, I was rockabilly. I had the high rolled hair
and the plaid shirts and winkle picker shoes. When I was 9 or 10, I
auditioned to play a dancing rockabilly for the movie Absolute
Beginners. As it turns out, I actually wasn’t a great
rockabilly dancer and was cast as the kid sister of one of the lead
characters. And that was that: I was going to be acting.”
