NOV 19: Bruce Weber: Haiti/ Little Haiti
Even in Bruce Weber’s famed fashion work, clothes follow the lead of the strong personalities to which he’s drawn. (As Weber once told an interviewer, “I think National Geographic has some of the best fashion I’ve ever seen.”) This month the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami unveils “Bruce Weber: Haiti/Little Haiti” (November 19 to February 13, 2011), a show of the portraits that Weber took on the streets of Miami’s thriving Haitian neighborhoods, which he began frequenting in 2003. It’s a well-deserved tribute to a community that has braved more than enough challenges of late.
