NOV 30: Les Lalanne at Fairchild
When it comes to the work of sculptors François-Xavier and Claude Lalanne, beloved by such A-list collectors as Marc Jacobs and Peter Marino, context is pretty much everything. Installed in a home, the couple’s fly-shaped toilet and rhinoceros desk invoke high surrealist drama; the bronze sheep that gallerist Paul Kasmin put to pasture on a Park Avenue median in 2009, meanwhile, felt more kooky in its incongruity. But simply to appreciate the natural beauty of zoological tributes like Moutons and Oiseau de nuit (Grand), check out “Les Lalanne at Fairchild,” opening November 30 at Miami’s 83-acre Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden.
