The Finer Things: Sitting Pretty

blog_christies_v.jpg The last time an Eileen Gray chair was up for auction, in Christie’s sale of the property of Yves Saint Laurent in 2009, it pulled in $28 MM. Next month, the designer’s lacquered wood and velvet Sirene chair—created in 1912 for her then lover—goes on the auction block along with 127 other rare 20th Century pieces. Christie’s Thirty Years: A Sale of 20th Century Decorative Arts & Design will feature rarities from the collection of New York gallery-owner Anthony DeLorenzo including Art Deco, modernist and mid-century highlights from artists such as Jean Dunand, Frank Lloyd Wright, Charlotte Perriand, and Jean Prouvé.
