The 75-year-old master photographer Robert Adams is having another moment: The Yale University art gallery in New Haven, which holds Adams’ complete body of work, has just opened The Place We Live—a huge retrospective surveying his stellar 45-year career. Though he’s is most famous for his images of the American West, each of Adams’ major projects are represented here in over 200 gelatin silver prints. (Through October 28; artgallery.yale.edu)

Or if you don’t feel like hoofing it to New Haven, just wait a short bit for the upcoming exhibit at Matthew Marks in Chelsea. On Any Given Day in Spring and Light Balances, which runs from September 7th through November 3rd, consists of two new series of his stunning black-and-white images of nature taken in Washington state, particularly around the Columbia River.
