blog_lauper.jpgWhen Cyndi Lauper takes the stage at Radio City tomorrow night for the New York leg of her True Colors tour, her personal couturier–Nicole Miller–will be cheering her on. The designer has been dressing Lauper for over a decade now, and happily whipped up a number of looks that are a radical departure from the pouffy Fifties fare the singer has traditionally been known for. “Cyndi’s always transitioning,” says Miller. “She wants to be interesting and identifiable, but she also wants to stay away from that sort of tulle look that everyone associates with her. She wants to move on, but at the same time, she doesn’t want to look boring. And lately she’s been into boyish, man-tailored pieces.” Thus the mix and match collection of skinny and baggy pants, double-breasted suits, shorts and super-long vests. “We made dresses too, including a gold lamé mini,” says Miller. “But those are for the meet-and-greets.”
