Luca Luca designer Luca Orlandi has built himself quite a reputation for his European charm and his va-va-voom dresses, wooing many New York socialites to his Madison Avenue boutique. The combination clearly appealed to Miami-based investment firm the Equitium Group; in late May it bought the label from Orlandi for an undisclosed sum. The new owners hope to expand the 16-year-old line, which Orlandi will continue to design, by adding more freestanding stores and pushing into new markets in Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. It was the first fashion acquisition for Equitium, which also owns personal grooming firm Caswell-Massey. With synergies ever so popular, Luca Luca bath gel could be just around the corner.
