It’s captivated conquistadors, Cleopatra and Wild West settlers. We’re talking gold, of course, and that flaxen flair has captured the runway set too. Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman, for one, found her inspiration on a recent sun-kissed cruise down the Nile with her mom. The designer was so impressed, she turned her resort collection into one big gilt-y Egyptian pleasure. “There’s no better way to work through such an obsession than with fashion,” she says.
