I See London, I See France

December 2010

“They’re very Diane Keaton when she wants to smoke pot before having sex with Woody Allen in Annie Hall.” That’s how Daphne Javitch describes Ten, her new line of underwear inspired by Sixties and Seventies film stars. With their low-rise silhouette and scalloped edges, the skivvies are “kind of a smart sexy,” she notes, adding that each pair is packaged in an airmail envelope (above). The cotton and elastane fabric is sourced in Italy and dyed (in white, navy, and three vivid hues) in Los Angeles. “Instead of obsessing over hiding your underwear, why not have a bright color that pops and shows through your clothes?” says Javitch, a stylist and former costume designer who took her message to the streets during New York Fashion Week this fall. “I was lifting up my dress and showing my collection all over town” (at Opening Ceremony and Partners & Spade, New York, and Tenoversix, Los Angeles; $40).
