Major Tom

Tom Ford is back—and in a big way. His first women’s show under his own name was the hottest ticket at New York Fashion Week. The intimate, exclusive gathering was held at the designer’s Upper East Side boutique, where Ford himself served as master of ceremonies, introducing each of his 32 looks on each of the 32 superwomen for whom he created them. First up was Eighties model and muse Farida Khelfa, and last was “the honorable Daphne Guinness,” with such icons as Lauren Hutton, Beyoncé Knowles, and Julianne Moore in between. “The clothes were neither inaccessible nor trendy, but rather for confident, strong women who wear fashion individually and like to have fun,” says W Creative Fashion Director Alex White. “I wanted to join the party!” Here, the pieces Ford designed for Rachel Feinstein, Karen Elson, Lou Doillon, and Guinness, modeled by our own favorite beauty, Lara Stone.

“Lou is young and has an amazing body,” says Ford. “She was the perfect person to wear a catsuit—le smoking.”
