Roc The Croc
French designer Catherine Malandrino is part of a long line of Lacoste superfans, from her grandfather and father (who regards the brand as “an institution”) to her son. Her husband likes the company’s piqué polo shirts so much that he wears them to black-tie affairs. Naturally, they were all impressed when Lacoste approached Malandrino to collaborate on a line. “I took it as a challenge,” she says, “to make the brand just as important for women.” The result is a concise 12-piece collection of kicky tennis skirts, tailored palazzo pants, delicate polo tops, and one stunning pointelle gown—all of them stamped with two French-kissing crocodiles (at Catherine Malandrino and Lacoste; $165 to $1,000).
