Scott Sternberg Takes His Band of Outsiders to Florence

blog-SS12_BandofOutsiders_450.jpg “I had the idea to do a kind of musical, inspired by America,” explained Band of Outsiders’ Scott Sternberg of his epic Pitti Immagine fashion presentation, held last night at a former cigar factory in Florence. Boring old runway show it was not. Sternberg took full advantage of the opportunity afforded him, delighting the crowd with a dazzling light show, West Side Story-inspired dance numbers (above, which were choreographed by Fatima Robinson, who has worked with Michael Jackson and Prince, among others), and an extensive lineup of preppy-cool, 1950s-inspired looks for Band of Outsiders Spring 2012 collection, as well as Boy’s 2011/12 resort one. By the time the mini burgers and fries came out post-show, everyone seemed to have a little kick in their jet-lagged step.
