Style Notes: Sophia Hesketh
Stylist Sophia Hesketh knows something about chilly weather. For one, she grew up in a drafty, 17th-century mansion called Easton Neston in Northamptonshire, England. Perhaps that’s why these days, Hesketh (above) finds herself equally focused on cozy interiors as she does cold-abating fashion choices. Did we mention she just moved into a new apartment?
Here, our January It Girl reveals her obsession with expensive rugs, her favorite Notting Hill pub, and her continued mourning for the late Beatrice Inn.
Daily uniform: Skinny trousers turned up with flat shoes, white t-shirt, and an oversized blazer or old leather jacket.
Greatest hits: Black long goat hair jacket from the Row; Erdem green dress with white flowers I wore for my sister’s wedding; my grandmother’s Dior coat from the Fifties.
A black goat hair jacket from The Row.
Preferred footwear: Brogues from Jil Sander and Churches, Miu Miu heels.
Finishing touches: Any Solange Azagury jewelry, Marie Mercie cat hats.
Hasketh’s Erdem dress
Nighttime look: With my mates in London: Mark Fast dress with tights, flat biker boots or Reebok classics, and a leather jacket. For an event: something more elegant, like a Stella McCartney dress with Azzedine Alaia heels, a Lanvin clutch, and a vintage fur jacket.
Best recent discovery: Hannah at Real Hair in London does the best color for blondes.
Favorite stores: I’m doing up my apartment so I’m obsessed with furniture and interiors. Luke Irwin rugs in London are incredible; De Gournay for incredible wallpaper; Alfie’s antiques market and Lillie Road in London for great antique furniture; Dover Street Market and Maread Lewin for vintage clothes.

Style pet peeve: Crop tops with low-waisted jeans.
Style icons: Jean Shrimpton, Madame Gres, the Rolling Stones.
Last purchase: A mirrored chest of drawers from the Twenties from an antique shop in London.

Lusting after: A Luke Irwin rug, but still saving. Most of Stella McCartney’s Resort 2012 collection.
Favorite haunts: The Cock and Bottle pub in Notting Hill, the Carlyle hotel, V & A museum in London, Le Voltaire restaurant in Paris… I miss Beatrice Inn!
Winter survival strategy: Layer!
