It Girl, It Trend: Cécile Winckler
Film producer Cécile Winckler models the latest in leather.
Cécile Winckler is well schooled in the art of downtown nonchalance. The New York–based Belgian filmmaker says her daily uniform is “a lot of stripes, T-shirts, and jeans.” She reserves party dresses for nights out at Silencio and Le Montana in Paris, where she keeps an apartment. The 26-year-old is often spotted with cool girls Charlotte Casiraghi, Lily Donaldson, and Julia Restoin Roitfeld, but Winckler describes her friends as a coterie of “Australians, Europeans, and Scandinavians.”
While her basics come courtesy of Alexander Wang, Isabel Marant, and Acne, for footwear, Winckler favors a pair of scuffed-up Dr. Martens. Needless to say, the founder of Prescription Films is thoroughly at home in leather looks (left), which she’ll perhaps accessorize with a cigarette or two. When she’s not dancing at Indochine or hanging out at her local haunt, Café Select, she’s scuba diving in Iceland or mountain trekking in Peru. Next up: Kilimanjaro—an excursion for which, apparently, she’s been preparing with late-night nicotine binges. “When you smoke, you train your lungs for the lack of oxygen,” explains Winckler cheekily. “So the less healthy you are down here, the better you’ll be up there.”
