It Trend, It Girl: Bella Yentob
London-based student Bella Yentob's chic chinoiserie.
Bella Yentob, the 18-year-old daughter of BBC creative director Alan Yentob and TV producer Philippa Walker, likes to be intrepid. The London-based student will go from dancing until 6 a.m. at a Congo Natty jungle-music event to riding a motorbike at her parents’ Somerset country house to indulging a newfound love of go-cart racing. But her ideal evening out skews more old-school. “My dream is to have a party where all the boys can dance properly to Frank Sinatra,” Yentob says. “I love the forties.”
Until that Whit Stillman fantasy comes true, she’ll stick to a daily uniform of jeans, sweaters, and Russell & Bromley buckle boots. Still, this Proenza Schouler chinoiserie-inspired dress would serve Yentob’s adventurous spirit well: For her upcoming gap year she’ll travel to Southeast Asia and South America with friends. But then it’s back to the books, as she hopes to study English and eventually become a writer. “It sounds kind of vague, but I’d like to be a literary critic or a journalist or a fiction writer…” she muses of her future. “Right now I can say maybe all of them—and I like that I can say that. I’m not properly in the world yet.”
