Chloé kicks off its 60th-anniversary fete with “Chloé Attitudes,” an exhibition of 70 signature looks, opening September 29 (through November 18) at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. On display will be archival pieces from each of the couture house’s nine designers, starting with its founder, Gaby Aghion, and continuing through Maxime de la Falaise, Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo, and, currently, Clare Waight Keller. While the image of the Chloé girl as an insouciant fille frolicking in meadows, her chiffon sundress fluttering in the breeze, isn’t entirely incorrect, curator Judith Clark aims to broaden that association by incorporating lesser known Chloé elements in the show, among them references to the Bauhaus and the erotic illustrations of Aubrey Beardsley, as well as unpublished photographs by Helmut Newton. Chloé will also reissue 16 greatest hits in its anniversary capsule for spring 2013, including McCartney’s pineapple T-shirt of 2001.
