From Runway to Reality

Fashion designer Esteban Cortazar redefines the term ready-to-wear.

Hailed as a wonder boy when
he staged his debut fashion
show at 18, Esteban Cortazar, now 30, is proving he’s still ahead
of the game with a “show
now, wear now” concept for his spring 2015 collection. His “seasonless” tailored jackets, fluid jersey dresses, and deconstructed fringe skirts will be available at the Webster, Barneys New York, and
on on October 25—just two weeks after being presented at Paris Fashion Week. “To me, this system makes sense,” says Cortazar, who closed his first label in 2007 to work as head designer for Emanuel Ungaro—a gig that ended two years later when Lindsay Lohan was appointed artistic adviser. “And if I’ve learned anything in my time designing, it’s be true to yourself.”
