How to Dress for Fall Like the Editorialist
Kate Davidson Hudson and Stefania Allen break down their enviable aesthetic.
Luxury e-commerce site and magazine Editorialist is known for its tight curation and impeccable taste—the ladies behind it? Even more so. Launched by style stars Kate Davidson Hudson and Stefania Allen in 2013, the site has become a go-to for those who appreciate a dazzling diamond and a tasteful statement shoe. Just after launching their luxe gift guide for the 2015 holiday season, Hudson and Allen break down the secret behind their coveted personal style.
How would you describe each other’s style?
Kate Davidson Hudson: Clean and feminine, punctuated by personal-feeling jewelry and statement accessories.
Stefania Allen: We have very similar aesthetics… clean and modern, yet classic.
How would you describe your own style?
KDH: Classic, clean and slightly minimalist with directional accessories.
SA: Feminine, classic, uptown meets downtown.
What is your daily uniform?
KDH: A wide leg Céline pant, V-neck J Crew tee, and Balenciaga leather jacket, vintage Rolex, Cartier Jus en Clou bracelet, stack of Jennifer Fisher pavé bands and Cartier rings.
SA: Balenciaga short skirt, chunky sweater and Stella McCartney blazer, Rolex gold Day-date, vintage Ilias Lalaounis ring, Chloe Faye bag, Aquazurra Beverly Hills heels.
KDH: My Céline nude/olive trench- it’s the ultimate perfect-fit piece that never feels dated. And, my vintage yellow gold men’s Rolex—it’s slightly oversized with a plain bezel so it works with everything and I love the way a men’s watch sits on a woman’s wrist.
SA: I love a great jacket. I’ve worn the same ivory Chanel tweed blazer for years and my Celine black leather jacket, too.
KDH: Too many to name. Although, I have a number of new Aquazurra, Proenza, and Givenchy additions to my closet this season. And, Giambattista Valli’s Fall lace-up boot collections from Fall and for SS’16 are gorgeous.
SA: Azzedine Alaïa.
KDH: Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer with SPF. I’m very fair so I never leave the house without SPF coverage and Laura Mercier’s is just light enough to not feel like you’re wearing a full face of makeup.
SA: Currently obsessed with my Mizuki gold and diamond choker—I wear it every day. I feel naked without my Anita Ko floating diamond earcuff and gold Day-Date Rolex.
SA: I keep nighttime simple. Same jewelry and heels, but add my personalized Edie Parker clutch.
Best recent discovery:
KDH: A series of mixed media on canvas Kate Moss works by Mr. Brainwash.
SA: Postmates—food delivery from anywhere!
KDH: Chloé’s new Faye bag and any piece from Valentino’s SS’16 collection.
SA: A Pierre Soulages print.
Style pet peeve:
KDH: Not being able to walk in one’s shoes.
SA: The wrong underpinnings.
KDH: Francoise Hardy, Kate Moss, Jane Birkin, Bianca Jagger.
KDH: Chloé’s Faye bag, Valentino bag with the navajo embroidered cross body messenger strap, Maison Michele hat, and a full ear of studs and diamond embellished ear climbers from Anita Ko.
SA: Giambattista Valli lace-up booties, Valentino embroidered bag, Chloe Hudson cross-body bag, Tyler Alexandra saddle bag, Aquazurra nude Tango heels, and Anita Ko coil ring.
What’s always in your bag:
KDH: My iPhone, ear phones, Vuitton wallet, Chloé cosmetic pouch, M.A.C. lipgloss, Thierry Lasry frames, an evil eye and a colorful beaded keychain my daughter made me.
SA: Valentino wallet, iPhone, M.A.C. lipstick, and a vintage comb that my husband was given as a christening gift with his initials.Follow Us:
