What Will You Find Inside the New Tory Sport?
Seventies flair, workout staples, and a couple of high tech gimmicks for the gal on the go from SoulCycle class to SoulCycle class.
Tory Burch has been fashion’s Golden Girl since she brought her ubiquitous Reva flats to the market in 2004. What started with a small shop on Elizabeth Street in Manhattan has grown to a global business, with 170 stores worldwide. Now, Burch has delved into athleisure with Tory Sport. The line is much like Burch herself—cute, classy, a little bit retro. The clothes are meant to go from a spin class to the juice bar to, even, the office—something that may have been frowned upon even five years ago but now seems to be perfectly acceptable. Being a workout fanatic herself, Burch started looking to fill the niche for “active women who have a wear-anywhere approach to classic, sports-influenced pieces” about six years ago and worked to develop the technical fabrics and design for the past three. The result is on colorful display at the new Sport flagship in Manhattan’s Flatiron, which opened earlier this year.
So, what will you find inside? A breakdown:
Women popping in either before or after a workout in the fitness centric Flatiron District, plus notables like Jennifer Garner, Emma Stone, Jordana Brewster and Camille Belle.
Lots of ’70s-inspired pieces focused on tennis, golf, swim, yoga, spinning and running.
Tennis bag ($395), Coolmax knits ($285), tracksuits ($165 for the jacket and $135 for the pants), and chevron leggings ($125).
Inspired by the French interior designer Jean Royére, a strong ’70s influence can be found in both the product design and store décor with flea market finds adding some charm to the in store experience.
