Dalia Oberlander’s hot jewelry site.
Dalia Oberlander discovered fine jewelry at an age when most girls are still swapping friendship bracelets. “I used to help my father pick out gifts for my mother’s birthday,” says the 31-year-old native New Yorker, who recently launched LatestRevival.com, a jewelry commerce site for vintage and contemporary treasures. After working in the painting and sculpture department at Sotheby’s New York in 2009, Oberlander realized that there was a gap in the market for buying artful jewelry: The only options were big department stores like Barneys and Bergdorf Goodman or small estate dealers.
For her site, she has amassed a collection of statement pieces—from Monique Péan’s delicate rings to Delfina Delettrez’s surrealist earrings to limited runs of Givenchy’s modernist collar necklaces from the eighties. (She’s planning to expand to jewelry designed by artists like Salvador Dalí and Alexander Calder.) Such an embarrassment of riches raises a tricky question: Who’s her favorite jeweler? “I love everything from certain periods, like Art Deco and the 1880s in England,” Oberlander says. “But if I had to pick one company, I’d say Cartier. They’ve always gotten it right.”
