“‘The skies above are clear again,’ says the soundtrack. Dare to dream, says six inches of snow expected tonight,” tweeted The Times’ Matthew Schneier from Marc Jacobs’s Fall 2014 show. Closing out the eighth and final day of shows, The Wonderful Wizard of New York Fashion Week transported his audience somewhere over the rainbow to a friendlier white cloud-filled fantasia that felt very far away indeed from “the most revolting NY winter evening—a blizzard graduating into ice-cold torrential rain causing the street’s filthy snow piles to turn into hazardous wells of grey slush,” as one not-so-stiff-upper-lipped British journalist put it. “Slice of heaven, silver linings, cloud nine—the Instagram captions practically wrote themselves,” deadpanned Style.com’s Nicole Phelps. Here’s a few more: “Floating on air @Marcjacobsintl,” “Marc Jacobs takes ethereal fashion to new levels,” “BRAVO, to a heavenly show @marcjacobsintl.” And then there’s the matter of a certain Kardashian half-sister spotted briefly on Kimmie’s Insta making her catwalk debut on the grand stage of the Lexington Avenue Armory in a sheer top and cropped trousers. Those captions pretty much wrote themselves too, at least on TMZ: “Kendall Jenner’s Nipples Go Big Time.” Tweeted the elder Kardashian, “Ughhhh can Instagram just delete your photos? Maybe @KendallJenner was too hot for instgram!!!”
