Keeping Score: New York Fashion Week Fall 2014 Day 7

Proenza Schouler superfans delight

On the seventh day of New York Fashion Week, Proenza Schouler designers Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough helpfully distilled their show notes to a Tweet-friendly length of two columns of text that repeated the same eight words, “Energy, Abstraction, Humor, Action, Color, Instinct, Spontaneous, Fast.” Guests felt that that they more than delivered on those counts and added a few adjectives of their own via social channels to describe the sculpted coats and jackets in spongy building-material inspired jacquards paired with flats—yes, flats—and kicky short skirts or tapered trousers like “incredible,” “spectacular,” “out-of-this-world,” and “ugly chic American style.” “Lots to like here for @proenzaschouler superfans” tweeted Modern Luxury magazine. Lucky editor in chief Eva Chen Instagramed the finale with the comment, “Ugh, phenomenal collection (the texture, the prints, the shapes!!) from @proenzaschouler. I only say Ugh because I want everything and that is an impossibility.”
