Amy Smilovic's Montana Adventure

This summer, Tibi designer Amy Smilovic spent time with her family in Montana, enjoying outdoorsy activities like horseback riding, camping, and fly fishing in appropriately glamorous style. Here, an intimate look at her vacation.

This is not the same tent I used to camp in when I was in Girl Scouts. (Full disclosure: I was the number one cookie salesgirl in the southeast).

A local cowboy named Dusty who got us saddled up every morning and explained to me why my horse was bullied by the other horses. (She’s from Wyoming, they’re from Colorado. It was straight out of Mean Girls.)

A horse stampede—they are the most beautiful creatures.

We went for long hikes every day—river views stretched on for miles.

My fly fishing hooks were so pretty! The guys who made these are truly artists.

My son throwing axes on the fourth of July (hence the flag scarf). This is not a sport we’ll bring back East.

The dining hall at the big ranch – the open space is just breathtaking and a total change of scenery from SoHo.

Three butlers and a chef came together to make the most amazing breakfast, which we enjoyed sitting in front of the tent.

Big Dipper Ice cream in Missoula, the college town near Paws Up. The lines were 75 people long, but it was worth the wait.

The charming team from Westbrook Maker Hat’s. To say I’m obsessed with their handmade creations is an understatement—these guys are the real deal and the hats are to die for.

The hammock outside the tent was perfect for afternoon naps, and reading a good book.

The stars at night. I slept with the shutters open. I don’t think there’s a more peaceful place on earth.
