At Vivienne Westwood's London Homecoming Extravaganza, Face Paint Was Practically Required
Barely over a month after Vivienne Westwood's son christened her homeland with the ashes of $6 million worth of punk memorabilia, the designer made a homecoming to London with her own cheeky showing of pomp and circumstance: a Fall 2017 show that made for the grand finale to London Fashion Week: Men's, combining men's and womenswear with gusto and topping it all off with layers of face paint. Westwood's been showing her labels in Milan and Paris for years now, and while it was her first show at home in London since 1982, she definitely hasn't grown shy in the decades since. Amid the various tartans, skulls, and knits that made up the collection were also motifs of Westwood's own sneering face.
