5 Rising Stars from Kiev

Chakshyn

Ukranian fashion designers are having a major moment. Here, 5 of our favorite collections from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Kiev’s Spring 2016 season.

Anna K After studying art for six years and modeling for two, Anna launched her eponymous collection at age 16. Since then, she’s become a local star, thanks to her sweet, whimsical pieces. This season, she did not disappoint with a collection that included girly cartoon-like illustrations on t-shirts and sweet pearl-embellished dresses.

Anna October Anna October also has a strong, feminine aesthetic. This season, she presented a collection of ruffled dresses in sorbet colors, with playful pops of colors in the mis-matched straps and exposed petticoat.

Ksenia Schnaider While the duo behind Ksenia Schnaider is best known in Kiev for their eclectic prints, this season they opted for a more minimalist, monochromatic aesthetic. Case in point: this see-through puffer jacket and a loose trouser with a slit at the knee and tapered ankle.

RCR Khomenko Yasia Khomenko started her line in 2010 after graduating from the Kiev National University of Technology and Design. Each collection builds upon the ideas and storyline of the last, and this season found us in a forest-like setting, with our heroine wearing dresses made of softened, boiled canvas in tree-covered prints.

Chakshyn This young brand designed by Dima Chayun and Anton Yakshyn mixed frothy baby pink ruffled knits with bold graphics inspired by the clothing care tags typically found inside garments. The duo already has fans at home and abroad thanks to their sense of humor when it comes to fashion. A few looks have already hit the streets of New York Fashion Week.
