Chanel Pulls an All-Nighter at the Library
On Thursday evening, while most of the fashion flock was off worshiping Gucci Resort at Westminster Abbey in London, New York stay-cationers attended Chanel's fine jewelry dinner at the Public Library. Guests included actresses Rose Byrne, Dakota Fanning, and Amanda Peet, plus Girls cast members Allison Williams and Jemima Kirke, who were both in town filming the series' last season. Rising star Amandla Stenberg rubbed shoulders with Jerry Seinfeld, and model Louise Parker was still glowing from Chanel's show in Cuba. "I don't really read for pleasure that much, which is a bad, bad thing," admitted Fanning while standing next to the library's rare book collection. "I have to read so much for work." Williams, however, was eager to list all the books she was reading this summer, including "Circling the Sun," and "Eligible"—Curtis Sittenfeld's "Pride and Prejudice" meets "The Bachelor" novel. She is also re-reading "Dangerous Liaisons" for reasons she couldn't say. Williams' co-star, Kirke, however is solely focused on trying to finish "The Idiot," by Dostoyevsky. "I was really gung-ho for the first 200 pages," she said. "And then..."
