Two Faced
Simon Porte Jacquemus’s delightfully absurd approach to fashion was on full display at his fall show, which featured models with faces drawn on their profiles. The surrealist makeup trick was the result of a collaboration with the German artist Sebastian Bieniek, whose 2013 “Doublefaced” series garnered fans such as Pharrell Williams and Ai Weiwei. It reminded us of Willy Vanderperre’s brilliant 1999 image of the model Robbie Snelders with Mickey Mouse drawn on his mug by the makeup maestro Peter Philips.
