Why Fall 2017 Was All About Bold, Colorful Fur
In a season that offered something for everyone—and where “micro trends” were abundant—it was hard to ignore the proliferation of big, warm, fluffy fur. Especially when said furs came in every color of the rainbow—literally. From Nina Ricci’s pastel pink, Diane von Furstenberg’s acid yellow and orange, deep red at Rochas, rust-hued fur at newly-anointed CFDA nominee Brock, and all of those joyful pastels, kelly green, and blues at Miu Miu. Aside from the bold hues, designers gravitated toward graphic black and white, seen at Oscar de la Renta and Marques’ Almeida, fluffy grays at Michael Kors and J.W. Anderson. A W favorite was all of the ‘heirloom’ furs—furs that feel very today but also could have been resurrected from a nanny’s closet, like at Bottega Veneta and Coach. Last but certainly not least, Marc Jacobs sent out late ’90s/early Aughts fur jackets worthy of Puff Daddy himself. Here, check out Fall’s rainbow of fur.
