A Look Back at Horst P. Horst's Surreal Fashion Photography
Horst P. Horst has long been known for his fashion photography – the German-American photographer shot nearly 100 Vogue covers over his 60-year career – but his work's ties to surrealism have been somewhat less celebrated. This summer, the Dalí Museum in Florida is bringing the two together in "Horst: Photographs – Fashion and Surrealism," opening on July 2. Stocked with 180 works, the exhibition starts with Horst's early days in Paris, where he moved in the 30's to study with Le Corbusier. That was hardly his only brush with an icon: Once there, he started working with designers like Coco Chanel and Elsa Schiaparelli, not to mention Salvador Dalí, with whom he even designed ballet costumes. A look inside the exhibition, here.
