ACRIA, the AIDS research organization, had taken over the space to showcase pieces by the likes of Jack Pierson, Robert Mapplethorpe and Herb Ritts that were to be auctioned off as part of one of its annual fundraisers. Jeffrey Cares, take note: this was the way to do an auction – silently. There was none of that waiting around for a rowdy auction to finish until the main show could get underway. When it was all said and done, Jason Wu, a longtime supporter, led a merry brood of gadabouts including Pierson, Zoe Buckman, Casey Fremont Crowe, Kate Foley and Max Osterweis to nearby The Park for dinner. Many Snapchats and selfies were taken along the way. All and all, $500,000 was raised. So, observe your own moment of silence for that.
