Milan Street Style Stars Redefine the Meaning of Sprezzatura
There’s a word Italians like to use: sprezzatura. It means, roughly, casual elegance, and the Milanese do it better than anyone. Here, in the country’s fashion capital, the leisure class strolls to and from shows with nothing but a statement coat (not always by Italian designers, mind you), coveted slides, a cigarette and the town’s most sought after accessory—the Gucci invitation, which this year was a limited edition 12″ record of A$AP Rocky and Florence Welch reciting Jane Austen and William Blake. Written on the sleeve? “What are we going to do with all this future?” Remains to be seen, but doubtless we’ll be wearing Gucci then.
