For Spring 2017, Giorgio Armani took Milan on a deep sea dive filled with feather-light layers piled over each other, loosely woven netting, and deep, tranquil indigo-purple. Sea creature motifs — smatterings of abstract blue and purple shapes sprawled across fabrics, pleated textures — ran through the collection like a current on models wearing beach-ready caps and oversized sunglasses. Armani showed womenswear intermingled with a bit of menswear this time around, following his equally laid-back menswear collection in Milan back in July. For this season, the runway itself was a reflective walkway wreathed in columns of light, as if refracted through water.
