Day Dreams: A Look at the Paris Haute Couture Fall 2013
Sitting at the Couture shows in Paris, I often ask myself, “Just who is wearing couture during the day and where are they going?” I guess if I were to be lucky enough to have a custom tailleur that no one else had but me I might wear it to the office, to my husband’s social engagements, or simply to a lunch with friends. For Fall 2013, it seems many designers thought about how a chic, wealthy woman might fill her day. Here is what I would choose to wear if given the choice.
Chanel Couture Fall 2013
Chances are that if you are a Chanel couture client, you also have a healthy stash of Chanel ready-to-wear. Adding a sequin top to a classic suit makes it slightly more dressed up.
Dior Couture Fall 2013
This look is from my favorite section from this show, the French woman running about Paris in her perfect suit.
Ulyana Sergeenko Couture Fall 2013
The ultimate fur coat for the Russian winter, a bit folksy but incredibly tailored to the body.
Valentino Couture Fall 2013
On the runway there is no way to see the incredible feather detailing on the skirt from this look – it’s really, truly couture.
Jean Paul Gaultier Couture Fall 2013
A little black dress worn with a bit of leopard is great for day.
Alexandre Vauthier Couture Fall 2013
I love the baby blue on a sleek black jacket – part of Vauthier’s signature style.
Giambattista Valli Couture Fall 2013
This little blue embroidered dress resembles fine porcelain— it can easily go into night, but would look so special for day.
Schiaparelli Couture Fall 2013
I was so excited to see the return of Christian Lacroix – a designer much missed especially for couture. I love the his take on the cape.
Viktor & Rolf Couture Fall 2013
The Dutch design duo also returned to the couture schedule this season. A simple dress paired with black trousers was a hit.
