Party People: Perfect Attendance
The style set turns out in full force.
How do you get the fabulously fickle to show up to your party during the holiest of times, Fashion Month? Champagne helps, and so does a good cause. At amfAR’s gala, Sarah Jessica Parker played host at New York’s Cipriani Wall Street, Janelle Monáe and Theophilus London performed, and Roberto Cavalli was among those honored—which explained the high model-to-human ratio. You could also woo guests with an IMAX-style extravaganza, as W magazine and P&G Prestige did at the Park Avenue Armory. There, two 50-foot screens featured Sølve Sundsbø’s The Ever-Changing Face of Beauty, a film exploring the expanding notions of comeliness, starring Lara Stone. Or you could lure them with a smoldering chanteuse like Lana Del Rey, who sang for Pixie Geldof and Elizabeth Olsen at Mulberry’s post-show dinner and party at London’s old-school Savile Club. Of course, an anniversary always gives the fashion crowd reason to let loose—especially when it’s Valentino’s 50th, which was celebrated in tandem with the opening of the brand’s new Milan boutique.
