Met Ball Documentary Opens Tribeca Film Festival 2016
"I'm just happy Andrew didn't ask to make a documentary about the Tribeca Film Festival," said Robert DeNiro last night at the fest's big opening night. Instead, Andrew Rossi, Wendi Deng, and Chloe Moretz sat. Unsurprisingly, Vogue's Editor-in-Chief is very much the star of the movie, delivering her clipped wit with a very large Starbucks in hand. In contrast, the scenes starring her counterpart Andrew Bolton, the curator of the Costume Institute, are less quippy and offer a more romantic look at fashion. It's a dynamic that plays to the film's theme of joining art and commerce—which is what the Met Ball does, at its most basic level. Last year it raised over $12 million for the museum, which might be why Andre Leon Talley called it "the Super Bowl of social fashion events.” Here, a look at everyone who came to relive the party vicariously.
