New Faces

It was a sea of romantic timepieces, diamond-encrusted showstoppers, and sporty numbers at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie watch fair, easily the year’s most decadent showing of new and out-of-this-world watches. Here are my highlights straight from Geneva, Switzerland.

1

One of my favorite high jewelry pieces is this Cartier miniature Panthère diamond watch. The delicate emerald and onyx details on the tiny face are exquisite.

2

Lady Arpels Ballerine Enchantée, the latest incarnation of Van Cleef & Arpels Poetic Complications series, is romance to the nth degree. The figure is a half-dancer, half-butterfly and when you press a button at the 8 o’clock position, her tutu comes to life!

3

IWC took inspiration for its Ingenieur collection from Formula One cars. The carbon case and dial is comprised of layers of carbon tissue (which is the same process used by Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One).

4

With the upcoming release of The Great Gatsby, Art Deco fever is rampant. Ralph Lauren’s modern interpretation of a 1920’s watch is so chic.

5

Nothing beats watches that double as bracelets, like these gold and diamond beauties from Piaget.

6

Vacheron Constantin’s latest Metiers D’art series is inspired by a set of late 1700’s illustrated books, The Temple of Flora, by British physician Robert Thornton. My favorite one depicts this beautiful China Limodoron flower.

7

Baume & Mercier teamed up with actress Emmanuelle Chriqui to create a limited edition version of its Linea line with three new colorful straps, like this one in a fun orange braided-lambskin.

8

Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph is a showstopper, encrusted with 276 brilliant-cut diamonds (and it’s as big as it looks)!

9

The Roger Dubuis booth was like a scene out of Game of Thones with knight and maiden costumes, and even a giant gilded eagle (representing the Poincon de Geneve—all in celebration of the new collection, Excalibur.

10

Although Panerai gave a sneak peek of this limited edition Tourbillon GMT Ceramica Pocket watch last year, it will now finally be available—for 50 lucky people!

11

Jaeger LeCoultre’s latest Reverso Lady Ultra Thin has a new strap created by the Italian leather goods house Valextra in the most perfect shade of red.

12

Richard Mille partnered with tennis star Rafael Nadal and created this tourbillon watch that is an amazingly light 19 grams—less than a sheet of paper!

13

With a sleek anthracite face, Montblanc’s TimeWalker Voyager is a men’s sports watch that will certainly also be coveted by women.

14

As a New Yorker, black is my go-to color, so I’m always on the hunt for the perfect, sleek watch, like this classic A. Lange & Soehne.
