On her way to the New York sister march of the Women’s March on Washington, photographer Micol Sabbadini stopped for coffee and extra Polaroid film. Everywhere she turned, those who weren’t able to make it out to the march — from the barista to the clerk at the camera shop — urged her to protest on her behalf, to show them pictures when it was all over. At the march, she met a family who came out four generations strong, from great grandmother to great granddaughter, and demonstrators standing up in support for everything from climate justice to healthcare to immigrant rights, all of which are threatened by a Donald Trump presidency and Republican-controlled House and Senate. And, armed with her Polaroid, she captured all the the best (and “nastiest”) signs and their beautiful, diverse creators and marchers.
